Taplow United FC Ladies 3 Newbury Ladies FC Development 0
Newbury Ladies FC Development Team travelled to Taplow United and they were aiming to continue their good league form. It was to be a tough afternoon for the visitors however, as they were up against a team flying high in the Division Three South table.

Newbury were effectively sunk by two quick goals in the first half, on 22 and 29 minutes, and Taplow were looking comfortable with their two goal lead. That score-line remained at half time, but Newbury came out after the break with some renewed purpose and the lively Bec Walker in particular, came agonisingly close to pulling a goal back for Newbury. But her effort cannoned back off the crossbar.

Newbury really needed that Walker strike to go in, to get themselves back in touching distance. Sadly for the visitors, Taplow broke with pace just five minutes later and they scored again to extend their lead to three goals to nil. That was just on the hour mark, but Newbury’s players refused to give in, and they launched an onslaught on the Taplow defence for the remaining half hour of the match.

Amazingly, Newbury were to hit the Taplow crossbar again another two times, first through Nicole Beesley and then again through the unlucky Walker. Their good play and attacking threat in that last period of the game, deserved at least a goal, but it was not to be and Taplow United were happy to claim all three points and the three nil victory.
