The visitors kicked off the match and it didn’t take them long to get into their stride, with the better passing combinations put together by Wargrave. Newbury were battling well, but were finding it difficult in the head wind. Wargrave had Newbury penned into their half for much of the time, so it was no real surprise when Wargrave took the lead in the 38th minute after a strong break through the middle. Newbury’s back line was unable to clear the danger and it resulted in the conversion of a close range shot. Crucially, Wargrave doubled their lead on the stroke of half time and so Newbury were facing a two nil deficit at the break.

Whilst Newbury rallied in the second half, they were unable to claw their way back into the match, with Wargrave’s experienced defence holding firm. It took until the 81st minute before Wargrave scored again, after a good move and cross from the right. Three nil to Wargrave now and this was how the match finished up.
