Match Report -- Season 2015-16
Southern Region Women’s League Cup Round One
Sunday 25th October 2015
Fleet Town Ladies 4 Newbury Ladies 0
Disappointedly Newbury Ladies FC exited the Southern Region League Cup at the First Round stage at the hands of Fleet Town Ladies, going down 4-0.

Newbury had created chances and shared enough possession, but they failed to really test the home goalkeeper. Fleet on the other hand, were clinical when it mattered, opening the scoring after 28 minutes. They then doubled their advantage just 6 minutes later after a string of individual Newbury errors in the build up to the goal and despite Laura Ainscough saving the first effort and then Sophie Self valiantly clearly off the line, the third attempt rocketed into the net for Fleet, giving them a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.

Newbury then suffered a cruel injury blow 5 minutes into the second half, when Amy McNab had to be withdrawn, just as the visitors were building up a head of steam. Before they could settle again after the enforced re-shuffle in personnel, Fleet extended their lead. Again Ainscough saved at the first attempt, only for the follow-up to be cleanly dispatched for 3-0.

Newbury's misery was further compounded after 72 minutes when a handball in their area resulted in the award of a penalty for Fleet. The only positive on a poor day for Newbury, is that their defender who handled, escaped further punishment and remained on the pitch. The penalty was scored and Fleet Town took a convincing four nil win. Newbury however, have much work to do.
