| Newbury went a goal down mid-way through the first half. This buoyed the home side, who had a spell of sustained pressure up to the half time break. They should have gone in two nil up, but Newbury escaped a late scare at the back post, with the on-rushing Fleetlands midfielder somehow mis-firing wide six yards in front of an open goal.
Within ten minutes of the re-start, Newbury conceded a second and gave themselves a mountain to climb. There would be no way back, as Fleetlands went onto score a thunderous third goal and seal a comprehensive three nil win.
