Newbury Ladies Football
Match Report -- Season 2014-15
Southern Region Women's Football League Premier Division
2nd November 2014
University of Portsmouth 5 Newbury 0
Newbury Ladies FC suffered another setback when the ladies side from the University of Portsmouth inflicted a 5 nil away defeat .

The first half was an even affair, with both sides enjoying spells of good possession. Although it could be said that the home side had come closest to scoring when they rattled a shot against the Newbury upright. The deadlock was broken however just 5 minutes before the half time break, when a Newbury own goal from a near post corner gifted Portsmouth the lead.

The Berkshire side faced further injury problems at half time, with new signing Kela Maskell having picked up a thigh strain and she was unable to last much beyond 55 minutes. By that time Portsmouth had raced into a 3 nil lead, with victory well and truly in their sights. They netted twice more in the final half hour and as the rain poured down, it perfectly matched the despondent mood of the Newbury players. Fine nil the final score-line.
