Newbury 2 Bracknell Town 5
|

Newbury Ladies FC had a disappointing return to league action last Sunday when they suffered a 5-2 home defeat to local rivals Bracknell Town Ladies.
The first half had been fairly even, after Newbury had conceded a sloppy goal from a direct free kick in the opening ten minutes. But then Caroline Harkness equalised, rising to meet a devilish in-swinging corner from Leanne Creese.
With one enforced substitution at the half time break, Newbury then had one of their poorest twenty minutes of the season so far, when the visitors were allowed to cruise into the lead, smashing four further goals to take a convincing 5-1 lead.
Newbury made further changes in personnel with Kela Gunnlaugsdottir making a promising debut from the bench. Whilst it was no longer possible to salvage this result, Newbury did score a further consolation goal to make it 5-2 before the final whistle. It was the same combination again, a Leanne Creese corner, converted inside the six yard box by Harkness.
