Newbury’s Reserve Team travelled to Ascot United in Round 2 of the Thames Valley League Cup on the same afternoon and were very unlucky to lose in Extra Time. Newbury scored first through a clinical Bex Walker finish, but allowed Ascot back into the tie, with Ascot then taking a 2-1 lead as the 90 minute mark approached.
Newbury’s Karen Churchill scored a superb equaliser to make it 2-2 at the death and take the tie into 30 minutes of Extra Time. Unfortunately Ascot finished as the stronger side and scored two quick goals to progress to the next round, with 4-2 to Ascot the final score line.
