Newbury Ladies Reserves Football
Match Report -- Season 2007-8
Thames Valley Counties Women's Football League Division 3
10th February 2008
Newbury Reserves 4 Chinnor A 0
Newbury were quick out of the blocks against Chinnor who unfortunately had to start with 10 players. Hayley Giles shot wide after six minutes, them Pam Hartley also went close from a good through ball from skipper Sue Hewett. A minute later Stacey Richardson shot just wide. Stacey then turned provider with a strong run down the left with a shot which Hayley shot wide.

The pressure was constant and on twenty minutes Hayley Giles had a shot saved point blank by the Chinnor Keeper who was having an inspired game. Chinnor were now playing with their backs to the wall and Lucy Ward, who again was a constant threat with her non stop running down the right, shot from distance but the Chinnor keeper saved. On twenty five minutes Chinnor were given a lucky penalty for handball but wasted the chance by blasting over. Next centre half Sam McConnon, up for a corner, had a chance to open the scoring but shot wide. Soon after this another great cross came over from Stacey Richadson, who was seeing a lot of ball on the left, being well supported by left back Gemma Ball.

Newbury still had chances before the break with Pam Hartley and Pam Hartley going close by the first half finished goalless.

The second half started the same as the first and again Pam Hartley and Stacey Richardson went close following intensive pressure with Tewsday Herbert, a real live wire in the centre, supporting the attack and then getting back to defend alongside Sue Hewett who was having a great game switching the ball from side to side using the full width of the pitch. Then on fifty four minutes, following good play by Stacey and Tewsday, Hayley cut into the box and played the ball accross the box for Pam Hartley to tap in at the far post to open the scoring. A minute later Hayley shot into the side netting following a through ball by Tewsday. The second goal came soon after when Lucy and Tewsday combined to allow Hayley to turn and score from close range.

Soon after this Hayley tapped in a Pam Hartley shot only for it to be ruled out for offside. The third goal soon followed with a fine individual effort from Tewsday who beat the defender before slotting the ball past the keeper and in off the post. Stacey then took over the goalkeeping role from Lauren who moved from left midfield and who was involved straight away in prompting an attack down the left.

There was still time for Sue and Lucy to shoot for goal before Pam scored the fourth deflecting a Kelly Mosher shot into the bottom corner of the net. Kelly was having a good game defending and pushing forward at every opportunity and trying for goal. Lorna Parr , who had another outstanding game at centre half snuffing out any possible Chinnor attack, had a shot saved by the keeper.

Newbury still had time for Sue to play a great ball to Hayley who shot but the Chinnor keeper, who was voted Chinnor player of the match, pulled off a great save.
