Newbury Ladies Reserves Football
Match Report -- Season 2007-8
Thames Valley Counties Women's Football League
Division 3
30th Sept 2007
Brize Norton Reserves 1 Newbury 3
Newbury welcomed back Rachel Butler in midfield and started brightly and, with the game evenly poised, Newbury went ahead through a great strike form Hayley Giles following a free kick taken by Lorna Parr. Brize then equalised through a questionable goal, but this spurred Newbury to attack and go further ahead through Kelly Saunders following another great free kick by Lorna Parr. Newbury went in at the break leading 2-1.

The second half started as the first and following a corner from Sam McConnon, which she scored direct, it gave Newbury a two goal cushion, but Brize, to their credit, came back to try and get back into the game with many chances, but with Lorna Parr and Sam McConnon holding the back four together and with Tewdsay Herbert playing out of position at right back they held firm. Sue Hewett, Captain of the reserves this year, played one of her most influential games. Lucy Ward and Hayley Giles were also always a threat to Brize. Special mention goes to Kelly Saunders and Pam Hartley who worker tirelessly up front.
