Newbury started the season with three players making their Newbury debut, Ellen Ireland, Tewsday Herbert, and Hayley Giles. Newbury started off comfortably and within 5 minutes had scored through Pam Hartley, This gave Newbury the confidence to push forward and search of more goals, which came from Lucy Ward and Hayley Giles.

Sue Hewett and Rachel Butler were controlling the midfield and with Tewsday and Hayley attacking down both flanks more goals seemed imminent. Further goals came from Lucy Ward and Pam Hartley before the break.

The second half saw Ascot come out determined to get something out of the game and resulted in a goal from a cross, Newbury then had to with stand some pressure but Lorna Parr and Sam McConnon stood out at the back with good support Jeannie Ivanov at full back. The game was eventually settled when Pam Hartley completed her hattrick two minutes from time. Hayley Giles was named man of the match. But special mention must go to Lauren Sheldon marking her return from injury for her performance in goal.
