The sequence of alternate weeks without a goalkeeper continued with a depressing result against a well organised Reading team. Playing at Burghclere FC due to the unavailability of Faraday Road compressed the game somewhat and Reading took full use of this overloading the midfield. sometimes it seemed that there were 4 Reading players surrounding the Newbury player. in possession. However despite constant pressure and few scoring opportunities for Newbury they were a little unlucky to turn round 2 nil down at the break.
Lucy Ward took the gloves in the second half to allow Kendall onto the pitch to increase the Newbury firepower, but Newbury created few good opportunities apart from the excellent goal scored by Caz Harkness which involved Leanne, Karen and Kendall to show what Newbury is capable of on another day.
