Match Report -- Season 2007-8
Berks & Bucks Women's Cup Round 2
18th November 2007
Newbury Ladies 11 Aylesbury Utd 0
This game was due to be played at Faraday Road was switched to Eccinswell at the last minute due to the heavy overnight rain. Newbury completely outgunned the Aylesbury team from the Thames Valley league playing excellent football on a very wet and sticky pitch. Newbury showed real skill in controlling the ball and dominated the match throughout. In fact the heavy conditions helped Newbury as the diagonal through ball was played to great effect holding the ball up allowing Karen Churchill to score a hattrick before halftime and, if the referee had not ended the game early due to the deteriorating conditions, she would no doubt have got a second hattrick in the second half. Kendall Gilmour opened the scoring with a trademark long shot over the keeper before Karen scored the first of her 5 goals. Caz Harkness got another brace of goals to cap yet another commanding performance in midfield and Elli Reed picked up another goal before halftime.

The second half saw newcomer to the first team Kelly Saunders, who had had a good game in midfield in the first half, don the gloves to allow Chloe Hunt a chance to play in midfield. Chloe made several strong and direct runs into the box and was rewarded with a goal alongside 2 more from Karen and another from Kendall. With 10 minutes to go the referee called the game off as the pitch was now almost unplayable.
