| The quarter final of the League cup threw together teams that had met on the opening day of the season. Like the league game it started off a very even affair and although the home team started the better they could not find a way through a resilient Camberley team. Newbury began to dominate and did get their reward in the twentieth minute when a good break down the right by Lucy Mortimer who beat her defender with speed and when her cross was missed by everyone at the near post it was Ruby Oliver who picked up the loose ball, shifted it on to her right and she smashed the ball home from just inside the box as the keeper sprawled to try and save it but with no avail. Camberley began to find their way in the game and also saw more of the ball and they game became stretched and more end to end. With virtually their first real attack the visitors drew level when a break down the left caught the home team out and a miskick by Chelsea Allen put the ball directly in the attackers path and she took no time at all in dispatching her shot past Honor who was not expecting it. Chelsea had the bit between her teeth now and was determined to put right her error and she pushed forward. When she picked the ball up just inside her own half she played a one two with Katie Saunders she keep her run going and dribbled past the last defender and as the keeper ran out Chelsea hit the ball with power and blasted home to restore the lead at the break.
The second half started like the first had a close tight game. The visitors started the better as they tried to level the match but some good defending from Naomi Purvis, Chelsea Allen and Rhiannon Gailall kept the home team ahead. Neither team really created any opportunities and the game fell flat as both teams failed to grab hold of the game. As the half wore on it was Camberley who looked the team more likely to get the next goal but as they pushed forward in the last few minutes their attack broke down and Newbury’s counter attack was swift. Ruby Oliver broke down the left with some neat skills and turns and when she switched play to the right with a long pass it put Lucy Mortimer clear through and she did not wait to take her chance and she chipped the ball over the diving keeper to finish off the match and put Newbury into the semi finals of the League cup.
