Match Report -- Season 2006-7
Berks & Bucks Womens Cup Quarter Final
7th January 2007
Bracknell Town 4 AFC Newbury 0
The much awaited game against Bracknell ended in disappointment. Newbury fielded a much modified team with the absence of several regular first team players. Newbury opened the game positively and had several early chances which is they had been taken might have led to a different result. It took the first quarter before Bracknell settled and started to apply pressure on the newbury midfield and defence and they were rewarded by 2 quick goals on which was very unfortunate when a shot going wide was deflected in off a Newbury player unable to get out of the way of the ball. Newbury continued to compete when minutes before halftime Newbury scored another own goal with a defensive header over the starnded keeper to make the halftime score a somewhat unrepresentative 3 goal lead to Bracknell.

The second half started badly when Newbury conceeded a 4th after the ball was carelessly given away in midfield. The team put up a creditable performance but were unable to get back into the game.
