On a cold and wet day Newbury put in a good performance to ease their way into the league cup quarter finals. Elli Reed was on particularly good form opening the scoring after just 5 minutes after neat interplay between Caz Harkness, Colleen Geis and Karen Churchill. Minutes later Karen received the ball from Kell Doe and crossed fro Elli to head her second. Colleen it 3 after 20 minutes with a fine shot before Kendall effectively finished off the game with only 24 minutes of the first half gone. Newbury then seemed to take their foot off coasting for most of the remainder of the first half.
Oxford came out in the second half with much more determination but were undone again when Elli scored her 3rd 13 minutes into the half. Newbury again seemed to caost before a final rally which saw good goals from Caz and Colleen. Somewhat unusually in a high scoring game Karen Churchil did not get on the score sheet but 5 of the 7 goals were scored from her final pass.
