AFC Newbury 0 Chalfont St Peter AFC 1
A truly exiting game played by two equal and committed teams over the full 90 minutes, this was easily the best performance of the season by Newbury Reserves. The game opened brightly for Newbury who were immediately on the attack but it settled soon into a midfield battle. Chalfont slowly gained the ascendancy as the first half progressed but the Newbury defence held fast, so much so that Holly Randall in goal had virtually no action to deal with. After half an hour Newbury started to gain more possession and made progress down both wings, in particular on the left with Roisin Winston, gaining in confidence as each game goes by, forcing throw ins and corners. Newbury were unable to capitalise on this possession and suddenly Chalfont picked up a loose ball to break through the middle at that moment quite against the run of play. The half ended with the game very much in the balance.

The second half started with Newbury immediately on the attack and Kate Pike was unlucky not to score when shooting over the keeper who just managed to get finger tips to the ball and deflect it onto the bar. The game opened up with both teams working hard giving both keepers much more to do. Newbury were making good use of the ball with both full backs, Sophie Mason and Lauren Sheldon contributing with excellent distribution of the ball. Towards the end of the game Chalfont were clearly tiring and Newbury started to dominate. Sian Elliott, Roisin and Rachel Butler all got excellent crosses into the box in the closing minutes but the Chalfont defence managed to clear the line.
