AFC Newbury Girls Under 15 Football
Match Report -- Season 2004-5
Tri-counties Conference
6th March 2005
Sandhurst 0 AFC Newbury 1
This was a competitive game throughout but Newbury always had the edge creating plenty of scoring opportunities. However the result was in doubt right to the end as Newbury were unable to convert the opportunities into goals. There always was a defender or the keeper on hand to get the ball away even the woodwork on occasion. Lucy Ward was looking very lively and had several, one on one, opportunities but the keeper managed to keep her out until 15 minutes from the end of the game. Rachel Butler was particularly effective in midfield winning everything that came her way and making excellent use of the ball. The back three, Laren Sheldon, Sam McConnon and Georgie Bingham were again solid, particularly Georgie who brushed aside anybody who came down the right. It was an encouraging performance on a cold day, with three substitutes, where Newbury persisted even though the goals weren't coming.

Next week Newbury are at home to Winnersh Rangers.
