AFC Newbury Girls Under 15 Football
Match Report -- Season 2004-5
Tri-counties Conference
16th January 2005
AFC Newbury 3 Woking Girls 0
Newbury gained a well deserved win over Woking, the only team to have beaten them in the conference. In a first half performance which showed the real progress they have made as a team this season. The midfield was winning lots of ball and Rachel Bulter, playing in front of the back three, was totally dominant. Playing up the slope this was particularly pleasing as Woking have shown themselves to be an excellent second half team. Newbury continued to press and were rewarded by another goal for Sophie Mason who is developing as an excelent goal scoring midfielder. Tiffany Chapman then added a second goal to be followed by a characteristic Lucy Ward run on goal beating the keeper low to her right.

In the second half Newbury went off the boil somewhat and Woking pressed well which meant that much of the game was played in Newbury's half. Carly had more to do and coped well, in particular with Woking's crosses. Still, Newbury had chances to add to the score and Zoe was really unlucky not to get a goal when her shot rebounded of the keeper. Collecting the ball she had a second shot, which was struck with some force, hit the post.
