| Newbury had a convincing win over league leaders Denham Youth to overtake them on goal difference with a game in hand. Electing to play down the slope with the wind in the first half Newbury had the game won midway through the first half. Caz Harkness opening the scoring after 5 minutes with a looping shot into the far right hand corner of the net from wide of the left hand post. Denham came back to shoot just wide followed by shots from Chelsea Starbuck, Kelly Stokes and Kendall Gilmour which were all close to scoring before Leanne crossed in from close to the goalline for Kendall to score an excellent headed goal after 15 minutes. The score was increased further when Kendall put a ball over the top of the defence for Kelly Stokes to lob the ball over the advancing keeper. Three minutes later Caz beat 2 players through the middle to put a shot under the diving keeper into the left hand corner. Denham raised their game at this point but the Newbury defence coped well with the pressure. Kelly Doe having an excellent game at right back.
Kendall opened the second half with a shot which was just over the bar followed by an attack down the right hand side by Denham. With Newbury playing up hill and into a stronger wind in the second half Denham could have had a significant advantage but the Newbury midfield and defence were winning most of the ball so Denham seldom caused any great concern after the break. Following a good build up Kendall scored after 15 minutes with an excellent side footed shot to beat the advancing keeper. Newbury had several more chances but failed to add to the score. With 2 minutes to go Denham scored a consolation goal at the third attempt from 2 yards out when Newbury failed to clear the ball from the 6 yard area.
