AFC Newbury 4 Marlow Youth 0 - Match abandoned
Newbury were expected to win this league cup match against second division Marlow Youth but they opened a little tentatively before Kendall Gilmour's first goal. After this they settled and passed the ball well. Emma Theochari was adapting well to an unusual position for her of central midfield. Newbury were using both wings and were unlucky not to score from several attacks. However poor clearances and quick ball through the middle gave Kendall and Leanne Creese 2 more goals. Moments before halftime Clare, a Marlow player, was injured challenging for the ball in her own penalty area. The injury left her in severe pain and and unable to be moved from the pitch. The referee called half time and an ambulance was called.

The ambulance arrived after 90 minutes by which time the Marlow player was very distressed and the game had long since been abandoned. It took a further 20 minutes for the paramedics to get her onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. Clare was released from Hospital Sunday evening with badly ruptured knee ligaments.
