AFC Newbury Girls U13 2 Wolversdene B 4
After last weeks terrible conditions, although really cold Newbury played with much more determination this week. So much so that they had a number of opportunities in the first half to take the lead when Rachel Mulvaney received the through ball from the Newbury midfield and even on occasion directly from Carly's long kick. However the Wolversdene defence were well briefed about Rachel, as usual, and managed to keep the ball out often with much bravery. In between these attacks Wolversdene managed to score 3 goals, one unfortunatley from Lauren who managed to put it into her own net when trying to deal with a dangerous cross from the right. This was an unfortunate event as throughout the match Lauren had a really solid game in defence.

The start of the second half was quite even but the game opened up and Rachel's attacks became more effective and Wolversdene were lucky on occasion to keep the score down until Rachel made a strong run down the left past the defence and she was left with a stranded goalkeeper. Rachel took the goal coolly with a simple tap in. Wolversdene managed another goal with a deflected shot but with minutes to go Zoe Davie broke down the left and scored with an excellent long range shot.
