This was the most exciting 0-0 draw that you could hope to get. Both teams had plenty of scoring opportunities but the shots were well saved or hit the woodwork. Down Grange played with a more attacking formation but Charlie Cooper and Lauren Sheldon dealt well with the attacks conceding corners and throw-ins when necessary, Those attacks that did get through were comfortably handled by Carly Passfield in goal. The game tended to be in phases where first Newbury and then Down Grange were attacking but neither team were able to beat the goalkeeper.

Extra time was inevitable and it seemed that penalties were also inevitable when with one minute to go Newbury conceeded a penalty when Lauren handled the ball in the area. Carly brought the game to the penalty shootout by making a great save low to her right.

Each team had 5 penalties and Zoe scored with the first but Newbury were unable to score with the others loosing the shootout 2-1.
