AFC Newbury Girls Football Under 12
Match Report -- Season 2003-4
PHYL Under 12 Girls 4th October 2003
Hatch Warren 1 AFC Newbury 4
The girls this week started more determined than in their match against Calleva last week and soon had Hatch Warren pinned in their own half with some excellent defending by Molly, Harriett and Chelsea. Newbury started to put their football together and when Honor burst down the wing she crossed for Ruby to tap into an empty net. This was followed up minutes later when Honor again in on goal drew the goalie out and this time squared it for Kellie to smash home.

Newbury didn't sit back and five minutes later it was Ruby who turned provider with an excellent pass to release Nicole, who moments before had shot over from close range, but this time didn't miss and put Newbury 3-0 up. With seconds to go before the break Honor again was set free down the wing and Ruby netted her second.

The second half saw a change in goal for both teams and it was a tighter game with both keepers pulling off good saves. Hatch Warren were rewarded with a consolation goal late on when a long range shot beat the Newbury keeper, but this was not enough to spoil a good Newbury performance with Honor getting player of the match.
