AFC Newbury Girls Football Under 12
Match Report -- Season 2003-4
Friendly Under 12 Girls 29th December 2003
Hungerford Girls 2 AFC Newbury 9
A local derby played in appalling wet conditions, but this did not dampen the spirits of both teams. The visitors started the better and were soon ahead when Lucy open the scoring with a fine solo goal. This was quickly added to by two goals from Kellie who shot home from close range. The rain persisted and it was Newbury who continued to look the more attacking team, Ruby grabbed a brace when she ran free and fired home with two fine strikes. But the home team began to find their feet and with Newbury playing a number of new players, were soon caught twice in quick succession and Honor could not prevent two fine goals. Lucy completed her hat-trick when she followed up on shots which the keeper could not hold in the slippery conditions, before Amy grabbed a goal just before the break to make the score 2-8.

The second half saw the home team fight harder and for all the attacking from both sides it was only Honor who was now on pitch who broke the deadlock when she beat a couple of defenders and slid the ball home under an oncoming goalie to complete the scoring and it remained that way till the end.
