AFC Newbury Ladies Football
Match Report -- Season 2003-4
Berks and Bucks County Women's League 12th October 2003
Morris Motors 6 AFC Newbury 2
Illness and holidays left Newbury with only 10 players for this league match at Morris Motors in Cowley, Oxford. The game was keenly contested and could have easily been a win for Newbury. It was only towards the end of the game that Morris Motors' numerical superiority told. Morris took an early lead but the Newbury continued to attack and were rewarded with a well taken equaliser by Chloe Hunt. Shortly before half time Morris scored again to lead 2-1 at half time.

Early in the second half there was a moment of chaos. The referee gave a dropped ball, after an injury to a Newbury player, but did not make clear what should happen. Morris passed the ball back towards the Newbury defence but the ball was left to a Morris player who was free to score. This was followed by an excellent goal by Kendall Gilmour almost immediately from the kickoff. Unfortunately Newbury were unable to repeat this, squandering lots of chances to score. In the end Morris were comfortable winners.

Next Sunday's match is at Faraday Road Stadium against Holmer Green. Kick off at 2 p.m.
