AFC Newbury Ladies Football
Match Report -- Season 2003-4
Berks and Bucks County Women's League 5th October 2003
AFC Newbury 6 Milton United 2
Newbury Ladies celebrated their first home game at the Faraday Road Stadium with an excellent win against Milton United. In a strong first half display Newbury dominated the game to be 4 goals up at half time. Chloe Hunt playing her first outfield game was particularly effective when working with, the game's 'player of the match', Kendall Gilmour. Chloe opened the scoring after 12 minutes with Kendal adding a second midway through the first half. Towards the end of the half Milton got back into the game and Leanne made 2 important interceptions in the 6 yard box to keep Milton from scoring. Chloe and Caz then stretched the lead by scoring the more 2 goals to make the score 4-0 at halftime.

In the second half Newbury seemed to lose their shape a little and were not creating such good scoring opportunities as in the first half. This gave Milton some opportunities to break quickly. Sarah Jones, in goal, made a couple of excellent saves touching one shot onto the crossbar but she was unable to save a slightly freaky shot and one other well taken goal by Milton. With 20 minutes left to play, Leanne and Chelsea tied the game up scoring 2 more goals.
