AFC Newbury Girls Football Under 17
Match Report -- Season 2002-3
PHYL Under 17 Girls 5th April 2003
Calleva 0 AFC Newbury 5
For the first 25 minutes Newbury seemed unable to score even though they were creating opportunities. The Calleva defence was quite active closing down the Newbury attackers just at the critical moment. The Newbury defence was keeping a close eye on the Calleva attack and although they got behind Newbury on a couple of occasions Chelsea, in goal, had only one shot to save in the first half. The best opportunity for Newbury came midway through the first half when Emma ran straight into the goal area and from a hard shot hit the cross bar. 5 minutes before half time Kendal broke the deadlock to make it 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half Newbury comfortably outplayed their opponents after Kelly scored a well taken goal within 3 minutes of the restart. Hannah, in goal for the second half, had little to do with the defenders, Caz and Emma, dominating the Calleva attack. In the last quarter goals from Vicky and Kendal (2) sealed the victory and 3rd place in the league
