Games against Hatch Warren are clearly destined to be low scoring events. They are particularly strong at shutting down the game but in this game Newbury did not get caught by the breakaway goals in the away game 2 weeks ago. The few opportunities on goal that Hatch Warren created were well saved by Caz and Jo on their turns in goal.

Newbury were getting plenty of players behind the ball and were applying as much pressure as Hatch Warren which made the game very tight. Hannah had a particularly strong game in this respect. The game was hard but generally played in a much better spirit than the last match. Unfortunately midway through the second half one of the Hatch Warren players saw red and made an extremely dangerous challenge on Caz with a leading elbow completely ignoring the ball for which she was cautioned by the referee.

This incident apart the game continued to be hard faught with Newbury pressurising the Hatch Warren for the last 10 minutes but to no avail.
