AFC Newbury Girls Football Match Report
Season 2002-3
PHYL Under 17 Girls 28th September 2002
Hatch Warren 2 AFC Newbury 1

Hatch Warren fielded only 5 players for this game which meant Newbury were in the unusual position of having a substitute. In reality this confused the manager more than the players.

The game was hard fought but unfortunately became a bit fractious particularly in the second half. Although the score was an improvement on the previous two games the character of this game was not really any different. The game was again dominated by Newbury's inability to score. Throughout the match Newbury passed the ball better than the opposition but it was Hatch Warren who scored all 3 goals including an own goal after an excellent cross by Chelsea. Hatch Warren's 2 goals both came against the run of play in breakouts from defence.

The second half followed the pattern of the first with both Chelsea and Kelly having shots which just went past the post. Chelsea in particular had one side footed flick shot from a cross by Caz which if it had been a foot to the left would have been a candidate for goal of the season.

Players: Hannah, Jo, Emma, Caz, Chelsea, Kelly
Goalscorers: own goal by Hatch Warren
