This was a difficult game to report on but it is fair to say that Newbury's performance was much better than the result suggested. Even though Basingstoke were scoring regularly Newbury continued to play and create opportunities. It is fair to say that Newbury were missing Rachel who was away for the weekend. The recent performances by this team have been built around her strong defence and in this game Newbury were unable to replace this.

Basingstoke scored some good goals throughout the match which were well taken and would have been difficult for any keeper to stop. However many of the goals were scrappy affairs which resulted from Basingstoke getting the first boot to the ball inside the goal area.
