A close game throughout which kept the spectators interested right up to the end was won by Newbury with 2 goals by Rachel against a penalty for hand ball to Kingsclere. Rachel scored midway through the first half after turning her marker and making a characteristic run on goal. But for some fine saves by the Kingsclere goalkeeper she may have done this several times.

In the second half Newbury looked like they would hold onto a 1-0 lead until a penalty was awarded to Kingsclere for handball with about 8 minutes to go. Newbury were in no mood to settle for a draw and Rachel scored again off the right hand post. With Grace off injured for the last 5 minutes Newbury held on for a well deserved and well worked victory. Carly again had an excellent game controlling the area in front of the goal with real authority.
