U17 League Match v Calleva

Won 4-1

After the previous weeks terrible weather the conditions for this game were almost ideal. Newbury again had only 5 players which meant that Calleva had 4 substitutes. The first 20 minutes were quite even with Newbury having opportunities to score on the break using both Kelly's and Chelsea's speed but good defending by Calleva kept Newbury from scoring. With only 5 players Emma was playing everywhere on the pitch supporting the attack and Jo in defence. Caz was in goal for the first half. A Calleva handball in the penalty area resulted in a penalty kick which Caz converted to make the score 1-0 at half time.

In the second half Chelsea went into goal in place of Caz. Newbury started to dominate the match at the start of the second half and both Kelly and Caz were unlucky not to score on several occassions. About 10 minutes into the second half Caz got to the goal line and crossed to Kelly in front of the goal to score.

Emma was continuing to dominate the midfield and supporting the attack and was finally rewarded with her first goal in 3 years scoring in a crowded goalmouth at the second attempt. This undoubtedly capped what was a truly fantastic performance by Emma in this game.

After the 3rd goal Newbury relaxed more or less from exhaustion, allowing Calleva back into the game. They were rewarded with a goal to make the score 3-1. After a rest Newbury came back into the game with a Caz goal off the left hand post.
