Berkshire Golden Youth was a special event organised in honour of Her Majesty The Queen's Golden Jubilee. 2500 children from across Berkshire were invited to participate in the event at the Bisham Abbey National Coaching Centre. West Berkshire Council took participants to represent West Berkshire in the sporting competitions.
AFC Newbury supported West Berkshire's Girls Football teams at Under 12 and Under 14 by providing coaching and management support.
We are pleased to say that the Under 12 team won their tournament in a penalty shootout after drawing in the final which was watched by Sven-Goran Eriksson, Sol Campbell and Owen Hargreaves.
The Under 14 team came second in their group and fourth overall.
Both teams went forward to the Thames Valley Youth Games in Abingdon on June 1st.
